What Story Will You Share to Help Make Canada More Inclusive?

Toronto, ON — National human rights organization Egale Canada Human Rights Trust (Egale) wants to hear your story – whether you’re a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer/questioning, 2 Spirit communities (LGBTQ2S) or a supporter working tirelessly to make the world more accepting and inclusive.

Participants are encouraged to post their stories to favourite social networks with the tag . Any medium will be considered including photos, videos and essays, with the deadline set for Monday, November 3rd(extended to Friday, November 14th 2014)

“As individuals and as a community, our stories are important. Sharing helps foster a sense of community and pushes key issues into the spotlight,” says Helen Kennedy, Executive Director, Egale, egale.ca

Each story has the potential to be featured in Egale’s documentary series, #HearOurStory, which will help the organization in its work to achieve a nation, and a world, free of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and all other forms of oppression.

“Every person should be able to achieve their full potential, free from hatred and bias,” explains Kennedy.

Current submissions to #HearOurStory include members of the LGBTQ community talking about the issues which impact their lives, as well as supporters discussing how they foster safer communities.
