Hate Literature Amendment Needed

The Criminal code provides protection on four grounds currently. This “identifiable group” area are colour, race, religion, and ethnic origin.

“Hate literature and propaganda against gays and lesbians and people with AIDS is everywhere in our society,” said Michael Smith, Education Director of the AIDS Committee of Ottawa, “Stigmatized hatred because of the fear and ignorance of AIDS have increased, and the extreme cases have led to violent deaths of members of our community,” he added.
