Egale Canada Human Rights Trust and the Toronto District School Board are proud to host hundreds of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) students, educators, and allies from across Canada as they gather in Toronto for OUTShine, the First National Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Summit, May 17th-20th, 2013.Students and educators from coast to coast to coast are coming together for a weekend of workshops and discussions to celebrate the experiences of LGBTQ youth and allies in our nations’ schools. In addition to workshops and discussions, OUTShine will be hosting a series of social events including a free public concert at Nathan Phillips Square to kick off the weekend on The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT). Join in Friday night at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. West, and mark IDAHOT in style with a free public concert featuring The Cliks and Molly Thomason from 8pm – 10pm.The weekend will also feature Canada’s First National Queer Prom on Saturday May 18th and a LGBTQ film festival on Sunday May 19th, for all Summit participants. The weekend culminates with youth and educators gathering to create the First National GSA Charter to unite goals and interests for GSAs across the country.
