collins05-webCarla Collins will be celebrating Queerversaries at the Egale Canada Human Rights Trust gala at the Ritz Carlton on Friday 27 September, 2013 Hailed the “Queen of Comedy” and “Canada’s Tina Fey” by the Canadian press, Carla Collins is an award-winning comedian, actress, television host and writer who brings her unique mix of wit and professionalism to every event she appears in, whether delivering her hilarious, side-splitting stand-up routines, or hosting corporate to red carpet events.

As a stand-up comedian, Collins was just called “The funniest woman in comedy” by BeautyStyleWatch in Los Angeles and headlines clubs all over North America.

She performs at The Hollywood Improv and The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and has also been featured at Just for Laughs, the Los Angeles Comedy Festival, and the Vancouver Comedy Festival. Collins also tours with the renowned “Hot Tamales” troupe and appears in their latest Showtime special “Hot Tamales Live 3!”. Collins is the subject of a humourous documentary entitled “Who the Hell is Carla Collins?” which is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Carla can be heard weekdays on “Speakeasy with Carla Collins”, a daily light-hearted current affairs talk show on Sirius XM Canada Talks.

Collins recently received a Best Actress nomination at the Vaughn Film Festival for her role in the short film “Pizza Bagel” which has been generating great buzz at film festivals everywhere including Cannes and The New York Film Festival. Based on the success of “Pizza Bagel”, Collins will star in the feature film “Cialom” which begins shooting early next year. She can also be seen on Funny or Die series “HA”.

In television, Collins’s CTV Comedy Now special, The Wonder Bra Years, won the gold award at the Houston Comedy Festival, and she has also appeared in the CBC Comedy Festival special Does this Joke Make Me Look Fat? Her hysterical television series, Carlawood, airs on TVtropolis and the Global Reality Channel. Carla has been the host of numerous talk, entertainment and variety shows including Entertainment Now!, Behind the Scenes at Just for Laughs, Chez Carla, Sonic Temple, Eye on Toronto and Hair Wars.

Collins’s book Angels, Vampires and Douche Bags, was touted as the “world’s first comedic motivational tome,” and received unanimous glowing reviews. She is also a contributor for More magazine and The Huffington Post.
