"Through the many years of being a caregiver I have developed a very tainted view of the community supports that the talking heads tell us is available and has been improved for seniors. For some yes. For many no. Having been part on this project and working with younger people who listened, who engaged, and who are respectful I now feel hope. Hope that there are individuals who not only see the need for change but who want to be a part of that change."

"In the image you will see the sun in red. Red because red is my favourite colour but also to me it radiates positive energy. The red positive energy flowing down the left side of the image a continuum of that energy as hope grows and expands. I love sunsets however my favourite time of the day is morning walks with my dog watching the sun rise and turning the sky a warming positive filled energy of red. A sky that starts my day with positive energy and hope of good day. Next you will see the hand with fingers crossed representing hope. Hope for change, hope that seniors and more specific LGBTQ2S seniors are seen as a valued part of society and not just an imposition. Many, so many having been pioneers, catalyst of change over the years that allows for the freedoms experienced by so many today. The heart represents passion and thanks to those involved in this project and the next step in facilitating change. The overall bright colours representing feeling more positive, positive energy for change."

"This image is about my four plus decades journey as a caregiver in different situations during that time period. The last three years being more challenging and more so due to the pandemic. The vine through out the image ties into the supports and lack of supports received on this journey. The green leaves meaning positive, the brown ones, some falling off mean lack of or negative support. Near the bottom of the image the dog house represents my first go to for unconditional support and personal therapy. My different dogs over the years. Never wavering. At the top of the image, the Village of Friends represents the friends who I could count of for help/support. The pandemic however did bring on a whole lot of issues including leaving us isolated in our home for almost two years. In the centre to the right of the vine you will see an individual sitting alone at the end of a pier with dark gray clouds behind them. This represents the community support services that were not there over and over again as well as the homophobia experienced. From my experience has gotten worse."

"The gray throughout the image represents the anger/frustration I feel, and the fear it will not get better. The fear and realization that the respect as a senior and as a gay man will only get worse, that I myself am wearing out physically and mentally. Caregiver syndrome is very real and something the caregiver is very alone with."
