About the Run

In the past, The Pride and Remembrance Run has raised over $780,000 for over a dozen charities. This year, we need your help to meet our goal of $100,000.

THE RUN
This year’s run is on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00am, starting at the corner of Church and Wellesley Streets in downtown Toronto. .

WHO PARTICIPATES
With over 1,000 participants, this 5k run or 3k walk is the largest of its kind in Canada and is one of the most popular running events in the GTA. It’s also one of the largest fundraising events during Pride week. Celebrities, political leaders and people like you join together to support charities in need. You can participate in the Run with your friends & family members by running as an individual, or as a team.

WHY WE RUN
Each year the Pride and Remembrance Association selects community charities who receive the charitable pledges.

Our chosen beneficiaries for 2014 are:

  • Egale Canada Human Rights Trust
    • LGBT Youth Suicide Prevention Toolkit.
Egale is a national charity promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans human rights through research, education and community engagement. Support from this year’s Pride Run will provide funding for the creation of an LGBT Youth Suicide Prevention Toolkit to raise awareness of the unique challenges and mental health struggles of LGBT youth. Once complete, the toolkit will be distributed nationally to support networks (e.g. social workers, guidance counselors, teachers etc.) providing much needed educational awareness, as well as tools for prevention, intervention and after care.
  • Fife House
  • The Pride and Remembrance Foundation
