On March 5th, 2020, Egale invited a group of scholars and researchers engaged in LGBTQI2S research in Canada to a daylong event in Ottawa to share knowledge and best practices regarding community-centered research.

Our primary objectives were:

  1. To gather insights that would inform our goal of establishing a National LGBTQI2S Academic Advisory Council
  2. To explore the possibilities of the creation of a Research Hub housed at Egale.
  3. To identify strategic areas in which Egale will build capacity to better support the academic community.

This report outlines participants’ responses to key issues in community-based and community-driven research discussed at the KSD event. This report is not a comprehensive scan across the field, but instead points to current issues and generative opportunities for future interventions to better support LGBTQI2S community research in Canada.
