Egale’s response to the Canadian government at the OAS

On March 27th, 2014, Egale presented to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on the lived experience of LGBTQ2S persons in Canada.

This was the first time that a Canadian organization has presented at the IACHR on the state of LGBTQ2S human rights within Canada. Following our presentation, the Canadian government provided its own response. While we appreciate the dialogue this hearing has initiated, there are several points made in the government’s presentation which we believe require clarification and elaboration.
