This year, combatting 2SLGBTQI hate is even more important than ever.
About IDAHOBIT
Taking place annually on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) was created in 2003 — making this year the 20th anniversary of the international event — to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by 2SLGBTQI people across the globe.
Around the world, societies are bearing witness to an unprecedented and exponential rise in anti-2SLGBTQI, hate-fueled, and gender-critical movements. Unfortunately, Canada has been no exception in this regard. There is a growing reactionary movement in Canada threatening the safety, freedoms, and rights of 2SLGBTQI people, especially those who are Two-Spirit, trans, nonbinary, and/or gender non-conforming.
Here in Canada, IDAHOBIT is led by Fondation Émergence, learn more about their campaign for 2023 at lgbtqphobias.ca or in the content below.
